🏛️ State License Law 📍 Illinois

📖 What you need to know

In Illinois, client and earnest-money funds must be held in a separate broker escrow or special account and may not be commingled with the brokerage's operating funds, with the sponsoring brokerage responsible for proper handling. Illinois is not a community property state, so spousal ownership and fund handling follow common-law principles. Brokers renew their licenses on a recurring cycle and must complete required continuing education, including a managing-broker-specific requirement for those holding the supervisory Managing Broker license.
