🏛️ State License Law 📍 North Carolina

📖 What you need to know

The North Carolina Real Estate Commission enforces License Law and its rules by investigating complaints and, after notice and an administrative hearing, may reprimand, suspend, revoke, or deny a license for conduct such as misrepresentation, fraud, or mishandling of client funds. Unlike many states, North Carolina maintains no real estate recovery or guaranty fund, so wronged consumers must seek compensation through civil court rather than a state payout. The Commission may also issue cease-and-desist orders to stop unlicensed activity, and practicing brokerage without a license is a criminal offense in addition to any Commission action.
