🏛️ State License Law 📍 CaliforniaThe California Department of Real Estate (DRE) and its Commissioner enforce the Real Estate Law and may investigate complaints against licensees. Violations such as fraud, misrepresentation, commingling, or mishandling of trust funds can lead to license suspension or revocation, often after a formal hearing. The DRE also administers a Consumer Recovery Account that can compensate consumers harmed by a licensee's fraud when a court judgment goes unpaid, and the licensee's license stays suspended until the fund is repaid.
