How Many Questions Are on the Real Estate Exam?

Most state salesperson exams run roughly 100–110 scored multiple-choice questions, split into a national portion (about 80 questions on the shared body of knowledge) and a state portion (about 30–40 questions on your state's license law). A few states add experimental questions that don't count.

Passing scores

Most states set the bar around 70–75%, and many score the national and state portions separately — you must pass both. Check your state commission's candidate handbook for the exact rule.

Time limits

Plan for roughly 35–45 seconds per question over a 2–4 hour window depending on the state. Pacing is why full-length practice matters: a 100-question mock teaches stamina no 10-question quiz can.

What the questions look like

Single-answer multiple choice, heavy on scenarios: agency situations, contract timelines, math word problems, fair-housing violations. Rationales matter more than memorization — the exam rephrases everything.

CinnaPrep's mock exams mirror the real blend — about 30% state license law — and estimate your pass probability from real performance.
